Zartu Promotes the Circular Economy by Recovering Polymers from Padel Balls ♻️
The family-owned company Zartu, based in Perafort (Tarragona), is developing an innovative project to recover polymers from discarded padel balls. The balls are shredded and micronized to extract their raw materials, which are then reused in the manufacture of new products.
This project is part of the circular economy approach that is becoming increasingly important to the company’s operations. Currently, around 30% of the more than 10,000 tons of polymers that Zartu processes annually are related to circularity processes, compared to a negligible percentage five years ago.
Zartu has invested nearly €700,000 in the last three years to strengthen its capacity in these types of services, which combine the mechanical transformation of materials with industrial testing and processes tailored to each client’s needs.
The company offers these services as part of its industrial outsourcing and contract manufacturing activities, always integrating a strong component of new process and product development. Among the projects underway, in addition to padel balls, are the micronization of other materials such as swimming pool tiles and other polymer waste.
This approach allows Zartu to position itself as a leader in the sustainable transformation of plastics, offering solutions that not only optimize material use but also provide clear value in terms of environmental impact and innovation for the industry.
